Architecture itself is balance: the perfect balance between art and function

Haining Museum

Location: Haining, Zhejiang

Scale: 215,278 sqf - 20,000 sqm

Time: Design completion 2013.

Status: Competition

Our design for this project was inspired by the lanterns of Haining, resulting in a striking and iconic building that is sure to become a landmark for the city.

The metal perforated skin adds a technical and modern touch, while the open exhibition spaces on the upper floors create a sense of openness and flow.

The building also considers its surroundings, with a permeable design that connects to the nearby park and urban planning offices, and a large public space that invites visitors to explore.

By integrating the two main programs of the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall and the Haining Museum into one cohesive building, and using the model hall of Haining's city as a linking element, we were able to create a dynamic and interesting space for all to enjoy.
